The First Congregational Church in Riverside moved to their present location and constructed a wooden church in 1887. In 1912 the cornerstone was laid for the present church building designed by Myron Hunt in the Spanish Revival style.

Los Angeles architect Arthur B. Benton had a keen interest in the California Missions and promoted the Mission Revival style of architecture. He was commissioned to design the First Church of Christ, Scientist in Riverside in 1900.

This 1888 Queen Anne Style home in Riverside, referred to as the Ames-Westbrook House, was first owned by Samuel A. Ames, Pony Express rider turned local citrus baron, but is better known for long time residents John and Lucy Westbrook.

Arlington Branch Library and Fire Hall in the Arlington suburb of Riverside, designed by the locally prominent architect, Seeley L. Pillar, in the Classical Revival style, has served its community continuously since opening in June 1909.

The YMCA Building in Riverside was built in 1909. Vacated in 1968, it was purchased in 1974 by Bent Corydon for use as a Church of Scientology Mission. It is now owned by Life Arts Center Inc. of which Corydon is president.

The Riverside Historic Courthouse, built in 1903-04, is a prominent example of Beaux-Arts architecture. After splitting from San Bernardino County in 1893, its completion established the first home for the young county.

Glenwood Cottage, built in 1876 by Christopher Miller, was developed into the Mission Inn in Riverside, starting in 1882, by Miller’s son, Frank. It is generally considered the largest Mission Revival Style building in the US.
