Mission Inn

Growing from the Glenwood Cottage built of adobe bricks in 1876 by Christopher Miller, the Mission Inn in Riverside was developed over 66 years, starting in 1882, by Miller’s son, Frank, with architects A. Benton, M. Hunt and G. Stanley Wilson. It is generally considered the largest Mission Revival Style building in the United States. It is a City of Riverside Cultural Heritage Landmark, a California Historical Landmark, a National Historic Landmark and listed in Historic Hotels of America.

The Mission Inn Festival of Lights is a cherished annual tradition first created as a gift for the community back in 1992. It is one of the nation’s largest holiday light collections, voted “Best Public Lights Display” by USA Today. Every year, the Inn’s festival gains new energy, grows in popularity and brings an increasing number of visitors to the Riverside area.
