Standing on the site of the 1st mission and fort in California in 1769, the building known as the San Diego Presidio, designed by William Templeton Johnson, was built in 1928-29 by the city of San Diego on land donated by George Marston.

Directly south of Mission San Fernando Rey de España on part of the original land grant of the Mission, the Memory Garden is part of Brand Park, named after Leslie Brand, who donated the land to the City of Los Angeles in 1920.

The Newspaper Boy, sculpted by Eric Thorsen, is a public art sculpture at the intersection of Rosecrans Ave and Orange St commemorating the incorporation of the City of Norwalk in 1957 as the 66th city in California.

The Pioneer Church was built in Chatsworth in 1903 on land donated by prominent community figure Nelson Gray. It was abandoned and threatened with demolition, but was saved, moved and restored in 1965 by the Chatsworth Historical Society.

The White House Event Center, a one-half scale replica modeled on the White House in Washington D.C., was built in Anaheim in 1978. Part of Jay & Bea DeArmond’s Hobby City, it housed her 4,000+ item toy & doll museum that closed in 2008.

Looming over the Hollywood Fwy, the Hollywood Tower, originally known as La Belle Tour, was built in 1929. It was a popular residence for entertainment industry employees and has been cited as the inspiration for Disney’s Tower of Terror.

The Pacific Ballroom repurposed the Long Beach Arena in 2013. The Arena was the 1st Long Beach Convention & Entertainment Center building, opening in 1962. Along the exterior wall is “Planet Ocean”, one of Wyland’s Whaling Walls.
