The Newspaper Boy, Norwalk, Los Angeles County

The Newspaper Boy

The Newspaper Boy is a public art sculpture installed on a special island at the intersection of Rosecrans Avenue and Orange Street commemorating the incorporation of the City of Norwalk in 1957 as the 66th city in California. It was sculpted by Eric Thorsen and dedicated to community leader Nell D. Donovan on October 19, 1964. It depicts a newspaper boy of the period holding a copy of the local Norwalk Call newspaper with the headline “Norwalk Incorporates!” and a photo of Norwalk’s first city hall.
