Leslie Milton “Bud” Wolf was a Hollywood studio art director whose work was directly reflected in his real estate development. His residence, the Norman Revival Wolf’s Lair in the Hollywood Hills of Los Angeles, was the pinnacle of his efforts.

In 1937, Long Beach Maternity Hospital hired Francis H. Gentry to design a new facility in the Bixby Knolls area. The hospital announced its new location and name, Bixby Knolls Maternity Hospital, in its holiday greetings in the Long Beach Sun.

The White House Restaurant building in Laguna Beach was constructed in 1918 and is one of the city’s oldest extant structures. Built in a Cottage style, the restaurant has operated under different names, but it’s the nickname that has stuck.

Emigrating from Germany in 1934 to study at the Chicago Art Institute, Frederick Lang was largely self-taught in landscape architecture, practicing from his South Laguna office from 1947. Lang had a notable impact on what Laguna Beach looks like today.

Clyde Browne worked from 1915 to 1921 to build his home, now known as Abbey San Encino in the Highland Park area of Los Angeles, along the Arroyo Seco using rocks from the arroyo and whatever other materials he could get his hands on.
