Charles Fuller House

On moving to Placentia with his wife, Grace, in 1911, Charles E. Fuller put his degree in chemistry to work as a soil tester in the area’s booming citrus industry. He eventually purchased 20 acres of Thomas Strain’s 110-acre citrus ranch and in 1924 opened part of the land for development as the Orange Grove Tract, followed by a tract on Primrose Avenue in 1925. Online sources do not agree about when the two story Craftsman bungalow that became the Fullers’ home was built, but most agree that it was around 1924, coinciding with Fuller’s entry into real estate development. Fuller’s fortunes fell in the early 1930s and he moved to South Pasadena, a move that would eventually lead to his rise as one of the first prominent national radio evangelists. The Charles Fuller House is an important contributor to Placentia’s Primrose-Orange Grove Historic District.
