Yorba-Slaughter Adobe, Chino, San Bernardino County

Yorba-Slaughter Adobe

The Yorba-Slaughter Adobe in Chino is the oldest standing residence in San Bernardino County. It was built in 1852-53 by Raimundo Yorba, son of the founder of the 60,000 acre Yorba Ranch. The Yorba family was one of the most famous families in the Prado Basin. The adobe was purchased by Fenton Slaughter, an influential political force in the state, in 1868 as his family home. The house still contains many of the original furnishings of the Slaughter family. It is a California Historical Landmark and is in the Native Sons/Daughters Historical Place database and on the National Register of Historic Places.
