Planning for replacement of the current Gerald Desmond Bridge started in 2008. The two 515-foot-high towers were completed in 12/2017. The ribbon cutting ceremony was on 10/2/2020. It is expected to be open to traffic on 10/5.

The 30′ sculpture, the Ballerina Clown, sitting atop a mixed use building at Main & Rose in Venice was created in 1988 by Jonathan Borofsky for developer Harlan Lee. Its leg was motorized to kick, but it’s rarely in operation.

Weighing 17T, with a height of 12′ and diameter of 7.5′, the Korean Bell of Friendship is set in a pagoda-like stone structure built by 30 craftsmen from Korea. It was donated to the people of LA in 1976 for the bicentennial.

Avila Adobe, built in 1818 on Olvera Street, is the oldest existing house in LA. Damaged by the 1971 earthquake, it was restored to its 1840s condition by the LA Dept of Recreation and Parks and Los Amigos del Pueblo.

Built in 1991 for advertising agency Chiat/Day, the notable commercial building on Main Street in Venice was designed by Frank Gehry & features the public artwork Giant Binoculars by artists Claes Oldenburg & Coosje van Bruggen.

The Chinatown of 19th cent Los Angeles was demolished during the construction of Union Station. A red brick stripe running across the plaza between the station and the MWD building marks one of the original Chinatown boundaries.

Completed at the end of 1927, the Pasadena City Hall was designed by San Francisco architects Bakewell and Brown. The 170,000-square-foot building, with its 206 foot tower, can be seen in numerous movie and TV series.
