Avila Adobe, built in 1818 by Don Franciso Avila facing on Olvera Street, is the oldest existing house in Los Angeles. It was damaged by the 1971 Sylmar earthquake and restored to its condition in the 1840s by the LA Department of Recreation and Parks and Los Amigos del Pueblo.
