Following the success of Oswald, the Lucky Rabbit, in 1926, Walt and Roy Disney bought an empty lot in the hills of Los Feliz in Los Angeles and built matching homes next door to each other, Walt at 2495 Lyric Ave, Roy at 2491 Lyric Ave.

The LAHCM application for the Sherwood House in the Los Feliz area of Los Angeles states that it “embodies ‘the distinguishing characteristics of an architectural type specimen’ as a notable example of the Tudor Revival style.”

The J.W. Blank Residence was one of the earlier homes built in the Los Feliz Square subdivision of Los Angeles. It was designed in 1927 by Harry Hayden Whiteley in his signature Spanish Colonial Revival style and completed in 1928.

George’s 50’s Diner in Long Beach was opened by George and Helen Alvarez in 1996. It originally opened in 1952 as Grisinger’s Drive-In. It was designed by Googie architect Wayne McAllister, who also designed the Bob’s Big Boy in Burbank.

Hollywood’s historic “Little Church Around the Corner,” St. Mary of the Angels, or simply St. Mary’s, in the Los Feliz area of Los Angeles was built in 1929-30. Noted architect Carleton Winslow designed it in the Spanish Mission style.

The Chase Bank in Santa Ana, a rendition of Millard Sheets’ well-known mausoleum style of modernism, sits on a diagonal at the corner of N Main & Washington. This branch has both a mosaic & stained glass piece from the Sheets studio.

Here’s what can be said to be definitely true about the Donut Hole in La Puente. It wasn’t the only Donut Hole bakery – it was the 2nd of 5 locations, but is the only one that still exists. It has been in continuous operation since 1968.
