Donut Hole

Here’s what can be said to be definitely true about the Donut Hole on Amar Road in La Puente. The building is a prime example of programmatic architecture. It wasn’t the only Donut Hole bakery – it was the second of five locations, but is the only one that still exists. And the only one with giant donuts. This location has been in continuous operation since 1968. The other four locations were closed in the 1970s. The Donut Hole franchise was the brainchild of John Tindall, Ed McCreany, and Jesse Hood in 1963. Their inspiration was the popularity of drive-thru restaurants and they wanted to create a unique and memorable experience for their customers. The Donut Hole is said to be one of the most photographed donut shops in the United States, but Randy’s is undoubtedly giving them a run for their money. But Donut Hole does have one more donut!
