The Goodyear Airship Operations base in Carson opened in January 1968. It covers 27 acres on a wedge of land where the San Diego (I405) and Harbor (I110) Freeways intersect. Each day more than a million commuters drive past the base.

The Yorba-Slaughter Adobe in Chino is the oldest standing residence in San Bernardino County. It was built in 1852-53 by Raimundo Yorba, son of the founder of Yorba Ranch and purchased by Fenton Slaughter in 1868 as his family home.

The LA County Museum of Natural History originated from William Bowen’s 1909 fight to convince the State, County, and City to develop the existing agricultural park as a cultural center. It opened formally to the public on Nov 6, 1913.

In 1936, William Quigley and Bing Crosby filed for articles of incorporation for the Del Mar Turf Club. Opened in July, 1937, the Del Mar Race Track is the 2nd largest horse racing venue in the western US.

After a fire destroyed the original 1886 station in San Bernardino, the current Santa Fe Depot was constructed in 1918. Opening on July 15, the depot was declared to be a “monument to the Santa Fe and the town the railroad built.”

The Motel Inn in San Luis Obispo was the world’s first ‘Motor Hotel’ or motel, opening on Dec 12, 1925 as the Milestone Mo-Tel. The motel changed owners many times before closing in 1991. Most of the buildings were torn down by 2010.

Located in the foothills of the San Bernardino Mountains above the City of San Bernardino, the Arrowhead, a symbol of the San Bernardino Valley for the Cahuilla Indians and the pioneers and settlers that followed, can be seen for miles.
