The Petersen Automotive Museum was founded in 1994 by automotive publisher Robert E. Petersen. The museum underwent a $125 million renovation in 2015. It has permanent and rotating exhibits, and an extensive historic collection.

Established by J. Paul Getty in 1954, the Villa was renovated starting in 1997, reopening in 2005. It is “Roman-inspired architecture surrounded by Roman-style gardens” with more than 44,000 Greek, Roman & Etruscan antiquities.

If you drive north on I5 out of the San Fernando Valley, you can’t miss the Cascades. Completed on Nov 5, 1913, it is the point where the LA Aqueduct symbolically enters the city to bring drinking water to the community.

In December, 1912, Griffith J. Griffith offered the City of Los Angeles $100,000 for an observatory to be built on the top of Mount Hollywood. Construction finally began in June, 1933, and the Observatory opened to the public on May 14, 1935.

The Broad is a contemporary art museum on Grand Avenue in downtown Los Angeles. The museum opened in September 2015 and is named for philanthropists Eli and Edythe Broad, who financed the $140 million building.

The Vincent Thomas Bridge is a 1,500-foot-long suspension bridge connecting San Pedro with Terminal Island. It opened in 1963, named for California Assemblyman Vincent Thomas of San Pedro, who championed its construction.

Cunard Line Job #534 launched as the Queen Mary on Sept 26, 1934. She boasted 5 dining areas and lounges, 2 cocktail bars and swimming pools, a ballroom and a small hospital. Her final voyage ended in Long Beach on Dec 9, 1967.
