The Columbia Ranch Dwarf Houses development lines Hollywood Way between Oak and Heffron in Burbank. Built between 1946 and 1951, the houses were not constructed as backlot dressing rooms or offices but to be used as ordinary homes.

The Howard Johnson Motor Lodge, the first HoJo property on the west coast, opened in 1965 across Harbor Blvd. from Disneyland. Its gleaming white contours with barrel arched roofline were designed by renowned architect William Pereira.

The former Fraternal Order of the Eagles Building in Redondo Beach was constructed in 1949. With its sleek lines and smooth curves, the former lodge illustrates clear traits of Art Deco and Streamline Moderne architecture.

Alfred Haines came to San Diego in 1887 at the height of the Boom. He initially lived in Chula Vista, but had this 3-story, 5,500 sq. ft. Craftsman-style home built in the Golden Hill area in 1908 where he lived until his death in 1934.

The Sixth Street Viaduct was designed by architect Michael Maltzan to be a landmark to replace a landmark in Los Angeles. Opened on July 9 2022, it replaced an irreparably deteriorating 1932 overpass completed for LA’s 1st Olympic Games.

The Governor of California, Manuel Micheltorena, granted 44,322 acres to Juan José Warner in 1844. From 1849 to 1861, the ranch was important as a stop for emigrant travelers and the Butterfield Overland Mail stagecoach line.

In 1923, Southern Counties Gas Company built new executive offices and the company garage on 2nd St. in Santa Ana. The Colonial Revival style building was designed by one of the premier architectural firms of Los Angeles, Walker & Eisen.
