Andreas Canyon near Palm Springs has a spring-fed, perennial creek that sustains the world’s second largest California Fan Palm (Washingtonia filifera) oasis as well as other trees, a multitude of plant species and diverse wildlife.

Yorba Cemetery in Yorba Linda is one of the oldest cemeteries in Orange County. Bernardo Yorba set aside a portion of his rancho for a cemetery and deeded it to the Catholic Church 2 weeks before his death in 1858. It was closed in 1939.

Los Alamitos Race Course is a horse racing track in Cypress (not Los Alamitos – a bit of a story itself). What started out as informal match races on the Vessels Ranch in 1947 has grown into year-round Quarter Horse racing in California.

The Flower Fields at Carlsbad Ranch has its roots in Luther Gage’s field, next to Frank Frazee’s small vegetable farm, in Oceanside. In 1965 Frazee’s son, Edwin, moved his ranunculus and gladiolus growing operations to the current site.

Achille Levy established the Bank of A. Levy in Oxnard in 1898. The business occupied several buildings before establishing its headquarters in a 9,000-square-foot Beaux-Arts Classical style building on the corner of A and 5th Streets.

City of Los Angeles Police Station No. 19 was built in Highland Park in 1925-26. After closing in 1983, it was acquired by the Los Angeles Police Historical Society in 1994, renovated and opened as the Los Angeles Police Museum in 2001.

The Ramon Peralta Adobe was built in about 1871 in the Santa Ana Canyon area of Anaheim on land that was part of Rancho Santiago de Santa Ana. While it was not the oldest adobe built in the canyon, it is the only one still standing.
