Although only in use 1855-1891, the Old Point Loma Lighthouse stands watch over the entry to San Diego Bay. Its prominent position at 422′ above sea level was an issue when the light could not be seen during periods of fog & low clouds.

Completed in 1929, the still-functioning Santa Barbara County Courthouse was designed in the Spanish Colonial style. It is an iconic Santa Barbara landmark with its four-sided clock tower, elegant arches, and beautiful grounds and sunken garden.

Founded in December, 1786, Mission Santa Barbara is the only mission continuously operated by the Franciscan order since its founding. It sits on a bluff overlooking Santa Barbara, an active parish church in the LA Diocese.

Alfred Smiley joined efforts with his brother, Albert, to create a public library and adjoining park in newly incorporated Redlands. Using their own funds, the library and park were built and dedicated in 1898.

The 1895 sack storage warehouse, 1915 hotel, 1911 store and 1895 Hamilton Bungalow comprise Old Town Irvine where up to 200,000 sacks of beans, barley or oats were stored and processed before being shipped across the country.

Avila Adobe, built in 1818 on Olvera Street, is the oldest existing house in LA. Damaged by the 1971 earthquake, it was restored to its 1840s condition by the LA Dept of Recreation and Parks and Los Amigos del Pueblo.

The Kimberly Crest mansion, designed in the Victorian Chateauesque style, was built in 1893 for Mrs. Cornelius Hill, a Redlands pioneer. In 1905, John A. Kimberly, a co-founder of Kimberly-Clark, bought the house for his family.
