The Boyle Hotel is located at the corner of Boyle Ave and East First St across from Mariachi Plaza in Boyle Heights. Designed by W. R. Norton in 1889, this Victorian-era hotel became a social and political center for the community.

The old Aliso Viejo Ranch bunkhouse and barn were a declining reminder of the Moulton legacy. In early 2019, the City Council finalized the Aliso Viejo Ranch plan that “preserves and restores [these] historically significant buildings.”

In 1927, construction began on Firestone Tire’s 1st manufacturing facility outside of Akron, OH. The Firestone Tire and Rubber Plant, South Gate Facility, was designed by Curlett & Beelman in the Italianate Mediterranean Revival style.

In 1900, Dr. Cephas and Thomas Bard purchased property at the corner of Fir and Poli streets in Ventura to build a hospital in memory of their mother, Elizabeth Bard. Dr. Bard died at the new hospital in April 1902 at age 56.

The Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum is an outdoor sports multi-purpose stadium in Exposition Park in Los Angeles. Conceived as a hallmark of civic pride, the Coliseum was commissioned in 1921 as a memorial to L.A. veterans of World War I.

The Octagon Barn was built in 1906 as a dairy barn for William Mighell, a San Francisco ship captain. Dairy operations continued into the 1950s. The Land Conservancy of San Luis Obispo County stepped in to save it in 1997.

In 1983, the Wrather Corporation, operator of the Queen Mary, built the world’s largest, free-span aluminum geodesic dome near by to house a new attraction – Howard Hughes’s Hercules H4 Flying Boat or Spruce Goose as the press dubbed it.
