Here’s one literally from the record books. The world’s largest plow, manufactured by Charles R. “Hap” Post and Norman R. Post in 1937, is sitting in a small lot full of weeds on Brookhurst just north of McFadden in Westminster.

Bruin Theater

The 876-seat Bruin Theater in Westwood Village, designed by the renowned S. Charles Lee in the Streamline Moderne style for Fox West Coast Theaters, opened on New Year’s Eve 1937. It closed on July 25, 2024, when its lease expired.

Forever Marilyn

Seward Johnson’s tribute to Marilyn Monroe, a 26-foot-tall, 34,000-pound sculpture titled Forever Marilyn, was created in 2011. It was moved from city to city, including Palm Springs, until finding a permanent home in Palm Springs in 2021.

Built in 1929, Royce Hall was one of the first four buildings constructed on the new Westwood campus of the University of California at Los Angeles. It served as the main classroom building and was also used for meetings and speeches.
