The first all-metal house in the United States was built in a short 10 days as a case study in New York in 1931. It was purchased and moved to Palm Springs in 2017; reassembly started in 2023 on a parking lot of the Palm Springs Art Museum.

Seward Johnson’s tribute to Marilyn Monroe, a 26-foot-tall, 34,000-pound sculpture titled Forever Marilyn, was created in 2011. It was moved from city to city, including Palm Springs, until finding a permanent home in Palm Springs in 2021.
