The natural gas-fired power plant located at Newland & PCH in Huntington Beach was built in 1969. It has been upgraded several times and in 2020, was converted to a combined-cycle plant, which increased efficiency and reduced emissions.

Community Bible Church

The oldest standing house of worship in the original city of Huntington Beach is downtown at Sixth and Orange. Originally the Huntington Beach Baptist Church, it was dedicated in 1906, three years before the incorporation of the city.

Beach Center Station

Beach Center Station at Main and Olive in downtown Huntington Beach opened in 1935 with banners, speeches and music. It was designed by Louis A. Simon and built by L.F. Dow of Los Angeles as a Works Progress Administration (WPA) project.

Golden West College

In 1962, Orange Coast College District bought 122 acres in Huntington Beach from Wilford Lewis, owner of Golden West Farms, for a new community college campus. Architect William L. Pereira was hired to design the new Golden West College.
