Rosicrucian Fellowship Temple, Oceanside, San Diego County

Rosicrucian Fellowship Temple

Mount Ecclesia has been the headquarters and spiritual home of the Rosicrucian Fellowship since it was founded by Max Heindel in 1911. The Rosicrucian Fellowship Temple, the Ecclesia, was constructed on the crest of the hill that separates downtown Oceanside from the San Luis Rey River Valley. Designed by architect Lester A. Cramer and completed in 1922, the design of the temple combines mission styles, classical motifs and the Rosicrucian’s interest in sacred proportions. The oldest building on the site is the original chapel or Pro-Ecclesia. Other notable structures include the Administration Building, Dining Hall, the Sanitarium Building, now the Guest House, the Healing Center, the elliptical arch spanning the front entrance and the Bell of Mount Ecclesia, mounted on a steel-frame tower. The complex is listed on the National Register of Historic Places.
