Immanuel Evangelical Lutheran Church

Immanuel Evangelical Lutheran Church was organized in Orange on October 12, 1922. In subsequent weeks, a constitution was drafted and adopted, Rev. N.F. Jensen was called to be pastor and The First Voters assembly decided to purchase lots on East Chapman Avenue and South Pine Street for a school, parish hall and church. The Los Angeles architectural firm of Lindley and Selkirk was commissioned to design the church. The estimated cost of $60,000 for the church included $12-15,000 for a pipe organ. The school building was completed in December 1922. Groundbreaking for the church and parish hall was on April 18, 1923; the cornerstone was laid on June 23. The Spanish Mission Revival style church and parish hall were dedicated on March 9, 1924; three services were held in the new church that day.
