Disneyland Theme Park Historic District
The Disneyland Theme Park Historic District was formally proposed as part of the Cultural Resources section of the Environmental Impact Report (EIR) for the recently approved DisneylandForward project. The EIR identified three structures, each of which represents a decade in the development of the park: Main Street Railroad Depot (from the opening in 1955), Pirates of the Caribbean (the first phase of renovation and expansion in the 1960s) and the Hungry Bear Restaurant (the second phase of renovation and expansion in the 1970s). All three structures are eligible for listing on the National Register of Historic Places which places them on the California Register. The Pope House, the home of livestock trainers and caretakers Owen and Dolly Pope, and the first building at the park, was also identified in the report as a Historically Significant Structure.
