Fullerton Union Pacific Depot
The Fullerton Union Pacific Railroad Depot was built in 1923 in the Mission Revival style, typical of Union Pacific Depots from this era. In response to tremendous growth in population and agriculture, Union Pacific was the third railroad to lay tracks through Fullerton as part of the rail system between Los Angeles and Salt Lake City. It provided service to both freight and passenger lines, establishing Fullerton as the regional rail center for northern Orange County. The Depot was saved from demolition in 1980 when it was moved about 200 yards to its present location in the Fullerton Transportation Center. It was renovated in accordance with the Secretary of the Interior’s Standards for Rehabilitation and is used now as a restaurant. It is listed on the National Register of Historic Places.
