The Immaculata Church

Originally the main chapel of the University of San Diego and the Immaculate Heart Seminary, the church of The Immaculata was dedicated on May 5, 1959. It also served as the Parish Church for the Linda Vista and Southern Clairemont communities. Its Spanish Revival style featuring a blue mosaic dome, red Cordova tile roof, and distinctive bell tower was designed by Frank Hope. Ownership of the church transferred from the university to the Diocese of San Diego in 1970. It is the largest church building in the diocese and serves as the parish church for Alcalá Park and the surrounding community.
