The Shakespeare Bridge in the Los Feliz area of Los Angeles is technically the Franklin Avenue Bridge. Designed by J.C. Wright of the LA Bureau of Engineering, it was built in 1926, rebuilt in a 4-year seismic retrofit starting in 1994.

The French Chateau-style Trianon Apartments building in the Los Feliz area of LA, commissioned in 1928 by Mary Pickford and Douglas Fairbanks, is one of the most impressive designs of noted apartment house designer Leland A. Bryant.

Hollyhock House’s reopening for tours of the interior were, due to COVID, slow to resume, accompanied with a no-photography restriction. The restriction was removed recently and several SoCal Landmarks photographers took advantage.

Hidden behind towering white bird of paradise plants and an ancient oak, the Rancho Los Feliz Adobe in Griffith Park in Los Angeles, built in the 1830s by the heirs of José Vicente Feliz, now serves as the Park Ranger’s Headquarters.

The Ennis House, made of over 27,000 interlocking concrete blocks, is perched on a 3-acre lot in the foothills of the Hollywood Hills in Los Angeles. It was designed by Frank Lloyd Wright for Charles & Mabel Ennis in 1923, built in 1924.

The Los Angeles Maritime Museum is housed in the former Municipal Ferry Terminal building at Berth 84 in San Pedro. Finished in 1941 as a WPA project, it was one of the pair of terminals for auto ferry service to/from Terminal Island.

Peter K. Schaborum designed the Art Deco style Valley Municipal Building in Van Nuys as a miniature of Los Angeles City Hall in late 1931. Formal dedication ceremonies on 2/22/33, Washington’s Birthday, were attended by thousands.
