The Boyle Hotel is located at the corner of Boyle Ave and East First St across from Mariachi Plaza in Boyle Heights. Designed by W. R. Norton in 1889, this Victorian-era hotel became a social and political center for the community.

Designed by Raymond Kennedy and built by master showman Sid Grauman, Grauman’s Chinese Theatre in Hollywood had its grand opening on May 18, 1927. There has always been a restoration program in process to maintain the theater’s beauty.

Shortly after Cinerama Inc. unveiled a new design for theaters to show movies filmed with its new widescreen process, Pacific Theatres founder William Forman announced the construction of the Cinerama Dome in Hollywood in July 1963.

Oil heiress Aline Barnsdall commissioned Frank Lloyd Wright to design and build a home for her and her daughter as part of an innovative theatrical community. He named the residence Hollyhock House after Barnsdall’s favorite flower.

Heritage Square is a living history museum located at the southern end of Aroyo Seco in Los Angeles. The Cultural Heritage Foundation, established in 1969, organized Heritage Square as a last-chance haven for architecturally and historically significant Victorian buildings.

Designed by architect Robert V. Derrah as a cosmopolitan shopping center, Crossroads of the World in Hollywood was completed in 1936. The central Streamline Moderne structure “sails” down an international street lined with shops.

The Pioneer Church was built in Chatsworth in 1903 on land donated by prominent community figure Nelson Gray. It was abandoned and threatened with demolition, but was saved, moved and restored in 1965 by the Chatsworth Historical Society.
