The Goleta Depot, built in 1901, was one of about a dozen depots built by Southern Pacific Railroad in Santa Barbara County at the time of the completion of SP’s Coast Line connecting San Francisco and Los Angeles.

Laguna Beach Digester
The remnants of a New Deal-era sewage treatment plant in Laguna Beach, a ground level digester tower and a small “lighthouse” up on the hillside that covered the digester air vent, will be renovated as part of a city improvement project.

Home Savings Center
A 2018 restoration project led by Edward Ahdoot of Rockwell Properties uncovered a mosaic mural created by Susan Hertel of Millard Sheets Studio for the Homes Savings Center (now International City Bank) on Ocean Blvd. in Long Beach.

Long Beach Venus
The Long Beach Venus is modeled on a 1767 bronze sculpture by Christophe-Gabriel Allegrain entitlad “Venus Au Bain.” It held a prominent position in an alcove above the marquee of Fox West Coast Theater on Ocean Boulevard in Long Beach.

Heisler Park
Heisler Park in Laguna Beach was named after Howard G. Heisler, a member of the Laguna Company that bought the property from the Irvine Company in 1905. The park stretches along the bluffs on Cliff Drive from Aster Street to Diver’s Cove.

Home Savings and Loan
The former Home Savings & Loan Bank (now Chase) at Beach & La Palma in Buena Park is generally a massive Modernist block built in 1978. Like some 150 Home Savings banks, it was designed and built by Millard Sheets featuring a huge mosaic.

Museum of Making Music
The Museum of Making Music in the headquarters building of the National Association of Music Merchants (NAMM) recently reopened after a two-month-long renovation. Founded in 1998, the museum opened to the public in March, 2000.
