The Ramon Peralta Adobe was built in about 1871 in the Santa Ana Canyon area of Anaheim on land that was part of Rancho Santiago de Santa Ana. While it was not the oldest adobe built in the canyon, it is the only one still standing.

Rancho Peñasquitos Adobe in San Diego started as a small adobe built by Francisco María Ruiz in 1823 to secure a Mexican land grant. It was enlarged in 1862 as the home of Captain George Alonzo Johnson and his wife, Pio Pico’s niece.

The Sawdust Art Festival has become as much a cultural and artistic landmark as a well known sight along Laguna Canyon Rd. in Laguna Beach. Starting on a vacant downtown lot in 1965, the festival moved to its present 3-acre site in 1968.

The 14-acre Segerstrom Center For The Arts in Costa Mesa is comprised of the Samueli Theater, Segerstrom Hall, Judy Morr Theater, Renee and Henry Segerstrom Concert Hall, Argyros Plaza and the Orange County Museum of Art.

When Los Angeles Angels team owner Gene Autry sought to find a location for a new stadium, Anaheim was more accommodating than Long Beach and the team played its first game in the new Anaheim Stadium on April 19, 1966. They won.

The LA Arboretum is in what was the heart of the historic Rancho Santa Anita in the city of Arcadia. Historic structures include “Lucky” Baldwin’s Belvedere (the Queen Anne Cottage), the Baldwin Coach Barn, the Reid-Baldwin adobe and the 1890 Santa Anita railroad depot.

All the buildings on the Huntington Beach High School campus, including the bell tower and auditorium, were replaced in 1926, designed in a Lombard Romanesque Revival style according to the architects Allison and Allison of Santa Ana.
