City of Long Beach Historic Landmark

The Colonial Revival style Heartwell-Lowe House was built in the Bluff Park area of Long Beach in 1919. The 2-story, 2,366 sq ft house was the home of Col. Charles L. Heartwell, who played a leading role in the development of the City.

One of a number of small-scale Art Deco commercial buildings in downtown Long Beach is called, simply, the Art Deco Building. It was designed by locally prominent architect George D. Riddle and built in 1930 by J.D. Sherer & Son.

Built in 1938, the Cherry Avenue Lifeguard Station was moved from Linden Ave. in 1965. Parts of other stations and siding were added to make it the Long Beach Lifeguard Headquarters. It is a City of Long Beach Historic Landmark.
