Seward Johnson’s tribute to Marilyn Monroe, a 26-foot-tall, 34,000-pound sculpture titled Forever Marilyn, was created in 2011. It was moved from city to city, including Palm Springs, until finding a permanent home in Palm Springs in 2021.

Built in 1929, Royce Hall was one of the first four buildings constructed on the new Westwood campus of the University of California at Los Angeles. It served as the main classroom building and was also used for meetings and speeches.

The Academy Theatre in Inglewood opened on November 9, 1939. The 1156-seat theater was designed by S. Charles Lee in the Streamline Moderne style. The theater became an important movie preview and premiere location.

The 12 story tower at the corner of Hollywood and Highland, the Hollywood First National and later Security Pacific, was built in 1927 and opened 1928. At 183 feet in height, it was the tallest building in Los Angeles from 1927 to 1932.

UCLA Nimoy Theater in Westwood originally opened as the UCLAN Theatre on Christmas Day, 1940. Called the Crest Westwood when acquired by UCLA in 2018, the renovated, restored and renamed theater opened in September 2023.

The Hay Tree in Paramount is the only reminder of the area’s busy hay and dairy industry in the mid-1900s. The camphor tree, planted in the late 19th century, is preserved in a corner of the Paramount Civic Center Plaza.

On Dec 6, 2024, San Diego city dignitaries, staff and members of the local community gathered in Balboa Park to announce the reopening of the Botanical Building after a $26.5M renovation project that restored it to its original 1915 state.
