This building in Anaheim is the only surviving Carnegie Library in Orange County. The brick and granite exterior remains virtually unchanged in appearance since 1908. John Austin of Austin, Field and Fry of Los Angeles was the architect.

Tbe San Luis Obispo city library board received a $10,000 donation from Andrew Carnegie in early 1903. Tbe community built tbe library next to the San Luis Obispo Mission. It opened to the public in October, 1905, closing in 1955.

The Ferdinand Backs House is an historic 3,713-square-foot, five-bedroom Colonial Revival-style home in Anaheim’s Colony District built in 1901 by Edward Neihaus of Berkeley (who just happened to be Mrs. Backs’s brother-in-law).

The 1-1/2-story, thirteen room Newland House in Huntington Beach belonged to Huntington Beach pioneers and community leaders William and Mary Newland. They lived there for more than half a century and raised a family of 10 children.

To quote the National Register of Historic Places: “The Newland House in Huntington Beach is significant because it is a rare example of pre-1900 architecture remaining in Huntington Beach and it is the only known Queen Anne style house”

The Laguna Beach Museum of Art, built in 1928, was temporarily closed in April 1985 for reconstruction, reopening in September 1986 after an extensive expansion. The museum doubled in size and changed its name to Laguna Art Museum.

The large Colonial Revival Truxaw-Gervais House in Anaheim was built in 1909 on 2.5 acres and was at that time one of the finest homes in Anaheim. It was saved from demolition, restored and is now the White House Restaurant.
