Stearns Wharf is Santa Barbara’s Number 1 attraction. Completed in 1872, it became the longest deep-water pier between Los Angeles and San Francisco, a key contributor to coastal commerce. It was named for its builder, John P. Stearns.

The Marston House sits on a gently sloping portion of five acres overlooking Balboa Park in San Diego. Built in 1905 for George Marston and his wife, it is considered one of California’s finest examples of the Arts and Crafts movement.

Peter K. Schaborum designed the Art Deco style Valley Municipal Building in Van Nuys as a miniature of Los Angeles City Hall in late 1931. Formal dedication ceremonies on 2/22/33, Washington’s Birthday, were attended by thousands.

Geneva Presbyterian Church was one of many congregations to form at Leisure World (now Laguna Woods) in 1965. They hired noted architect William Pereira to design their sanctuary, apparently the only church he designed.

The Spreckels Theatre has been in near continuous operation since August 1912. Sugar magnate John Spreckels commissioned Harrison Albright to build it to commemorate the Panama Canal opening and upcoming Pan-American Exposition.

This 4-story edifice on Hollywood Blvd. was designed in the Art Deco style by Norton and Wallis. From there, details get fuzzy. It was built in 1929 or 1930. It was the Shane Building or maybe the Shane & Regar (or Reger) Store Building.
