In the early 1900s, the French Park area of Santa Ana became known as the Nob Hill of Orange County as standard-setting houses in the Colonial Revival, Victorian and Neo-Classical styles were built along the oak tree-lined streets.

Dedication ceremonies for the sixth City Hall in Los Angeles were held on April 26, 1928. The concrete in its tower was made with sand from each of California’s 58 counties and water from its 21 historical missions.

From the time of its completion in 1929 through the mid-1950s, the sixteen-story Villa Riviera in Long Beach was the second-tallest building (only LA City Hall was taller), and the tallest private building, in Southern California.

In 1995 Soka University acquired a 103-acre site in Aliso Viejo for a private, nonprofit, four-year liberal arts college. The Aliso Viejo campus opened May 3, 2001, with a first-year class of 120 students from 18 countries and 18 states.

The mural on the historic Aquarius Theater in Hollywood was originally painted for the opening of Hair, and the theater, in 1968. It was repainted by Quentin Tarantino for his film “Once Upon a Time… in Hollywood.”
