Wilcox Manor

The two-story structure on South Pasadena Avenue in Tustin, listed as Wilcox Manor on the Tustin Historic Registry, was built in 1880. In the registry nomination details, the Tustin Preservation Conservancy indicates that, based on historic photos and correspondence, the property probably started as a three-story hotel and stagecoach stop. Charles Wheaton Wilcox, who came to Tustin in 1874, grew to prominence in the town as he served as president of the Santa Ana Valley Fruit Co., a Tustin Land Improvement Co. shareholder and a Bank of Tustin director. He purchased the property in 1898 and removed one of the original stories to use it as his private residence which he dubbed “The Villa.” The house stayed in the Wilcox family until 1920. Since then, the house has been converted, in turn, into apartments and a wedding and events venue.
