Verbal Building
The Classical Revival Verbal Building at the corner of Yale and Second Street in Claremont, considered one of the finest commercial buildings in the Village, was built in 1912 for the Claremont National Bank. It later served as the Bank of America for many years. The first floor was taken over by Claremont Pharmacy and the second floor served as the Masonic Lodge. Mike and Sue Verbal, who started one of Claremont’s best-known restaurants, Pizza ‘N Such, in 1979, bought the building in 1992 and expanded into the space vacated by Claremont Pharmacy in 2002. Claremont Fine Arts, which features California artists, is also located in the building.
