Temecula City Hall
Temecula City Hall had its supporters and detractors when it was built just over a decade old. Some have called it the Taj Mahal of municipal buildings. Others have said the 85-foot domed clock tower was an “overcompensation” by city leaders. The 96,000-square-foot, three-story Civic Center sits on a bluff above Old Town with I-15 at its back and Town Square spreading out in front of it. It was designed in the Mission Revival style by Redding-based Nichols, Melburg & Rossetto (NMR) Architects and Engineers. The Town Square Fountain (dry due to severe drought) is shaped like a woven basket, an homage to the Luiseño Indians who have inhabited the area for thousands of years. Water comes from either side representing Murrieta Creek and Temecula Creek. The acorns in the middle represent the staple food source of the Native Americans.
