Inside Independence Hall
Knott’s Independence Hall is an exact, brick-by-brick replica of the original in Philadelphia. Walter Knott’s personal labor of love, it is the nation’s only exact replica of the Philadelphia landmark. The Hall houses a replica the Liberty Bell that has the same dimensions and weighs just five pounds less than the 2,080-pound original, positioned where the original stood in Philadelphia until 1976. The faithful recreation of the room in which the Continental Congress adopted both the Declaration of Independence in 1776 and Constitution in 1787 features an audio presentation of the Founding Fathers debating independence from Britain. Historical artifacts, documents and a collection of Bicentennial memorabilia are also on display throughout the hall.
