El Presidio Real de San Diego

Standing on the site of the first mission and fort established in California in 1769, the building known as the San Diego Presidio was built by the city of San Diego on land donated by George Marston. He funded Junípero Serra Museum, designed by William Templeton Johnson and built in 1928-29 in Spanish Revival style architecture, to house and showcase the collection of the San Diego Historical Society (now the San Diego History Center). Serra Museum is sometimes incorrectly referred to as the Presidio, but in fact nothing remains of the original Presidio. It is a National Historic Landmark, California Historical Landmark and San Diego Historic Landmark and on the National Register of Historic Places.
