Hetebrink House
Designed in the Mission Revival style by the Santa Ana architectural firm of Elwing and Tedford, the Hetebrink House in Fullerton was built for John and Carrie Edwardson Hetebrink in 1914. John Hetebrink, the “Tomato King,” was one of the original settlers of Fullerton and owned two 40-acre ranches north of Chapman Avenue. Although the land that the house stands on was originally a tomato field, the ranches are said to primarily have held walnut and orange groves. The Hetebrinks were involved in many community activities and their residence was often the site of meetings, events and parties. The house technically remains in the Hetebrink family, but has remained vacant since 2001 when their son, Albert, passed away. The house is listed on the National Register of Historic Places.
