San Bernardino de Sena Estancia

San Bernardino de Sena Estancia was a ranch outpost of Mission San Gabriel Arcángel established around 1830 at Politana rancheria. It was staffed with one priest to reach out to and convert the Serrano and Cahuilla Native American people. The Estancia fell into disrepair as it passed through a number of private owners and, in 1925, was only a ruin when the County of San Bernardino acquired it. A combined state (SERA) and federal (WPA) project completed construction of a new six room structure called the Asistencia on the site in 1937 as a museum. It is a California Historical Landmark currently operated by the Redlands Conservancy.
