Douglas Park, Long Beach, Los Angeles County

Douglas Park

Douglas Park started with the purchase of 200 acres near Daugherty Field (now Long Beach Airport) by Donald Douglas and Carl Cover in 1940. The manufacturing plant they built there produced, among many others, the C-47 Skytrain, the B-17 bomber and the DC line of commercial aircraft. Sale of the property to an Irvine developer in 2012 included an agreement to preserve the iconic ‘Fly DC Jets’ neon sign which resembles the Douglas Company logo of the 1950s. It was designated a Long Beach Historic Landmark in August 2016.
