The Hide Drogher
The Hide Drogher, sculpted by F. Benedict Coleman in 1990, depicts a sailor hurling a hide over the cliff. In the 19th century, rancheros would bring their cow hides on wagons to the end of the road at the top of the cliff and the droghers (draggers) would fling them over the cliff to their ships waiting in the harbor below. The statue is located just above The Arches on the Bluff Top Trail in Dana Point.
