San Diego California Temple
Dedicated in 1993, the San Diego California Temple, occupying 7.2 acres on an elevated promontory in the La Jolla area, was the third temple built in California by The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. It is the most dramatic design of the recent temples with its two major towers, flanked by four smaller spired turrets. It is a House of the Lord, where church members perform ordinances and make covenants. Although there is no visitors’ center, the church maintains the Mormon Battalion Historic Site in Old Town, San Diego.
