The D.D. Johnston-Hargitt House in Norwalk is an Eastlake style Victorian house built in 1890-91. Darius David Johnston was one of Norwalk’s leading pioneers notably involved with the Norwalk School District until his death in 1917.

The Stow House is one of the oldest wood-frame houses in Goleta. It sits on land that William Stow bought in 1871 for his son, Sherman. Sherman built the 1 1/2 story Carpenter Gothic house in 1873 and expanded it in the 1880s and 1910s.

The Ebell Society of Santa Ana Valley, organized in 1894, completed their building fund and constructed their own clubhouse in 1924. It was designed in a Spanish/Mediterranean Revival style by locally prominent architect Frederick Eley.

Excavation for the first permanent building of St. Anthony’s Seminary was started August 25, 1898, on Mission Hill, adjacent to Mission Santa Barbara. Work was completed on the last day of 1900 and classes in it on January 27, 1901.

The Kensington area, San Diego’s best-known Spanish Colonial neighborhood, was originally part of Rancho de la Mission San Diego Alcala. A parcel of the Rancho became the property of the Kensington Park Land Company on April 8, 1910.
