Designed in a combination of Craftsman (mostly inside) and English Tudor styles, the Glen Tavern Inn in Santa Paul was completed in 1911 and opened with 32 bedrooms, a modern kitchen and dining room, a large lobby and a writing room.

Full title to the Mission Beach Amusement Center, built by John Spreckels in 1925, was given to the City of San Diego in 1939. The name was changed to Belmont Park in 1954 when the City negotiated a twenty-year lease with Jack Ray.

In 1895, a large 2-1/2 story, 3,954 sq ft house was built for the D.C. Pixley family at the corner of Olive and Palm in Orange. The house was bought in 1976 by Mike and Anke Vogelvang and remains in the family today.

In Oct 1926, local dignitaries were invited to speak at the ground breaking for a new library building in Placentia. The cornerstone was laid in November. In March 1927, the Placentia Public Library was officially opened for business.

In 1870, Gilbert Sproul built a house for himself and his family near the planned path of the Southern Pacific Rail Road. After deeding 20+ acres to SPRR, Sproul surveyed a town site that was recorded officially as Norwalk in 1877.

The San Diego County Administration Center is sited on 16.7 acres of reclaimed tidelands of San Diego’s bayfront. Nicknamed the Jewel on the Bay, the main 4-story building with central 10-story tower has 3-story wings on each side.

When retired Army Col. John Porter settled in Poway in 1948, he had a dream: revitalize Old Poway. Through the years, he acquired and built the start of a historic village that the City completed as Old Poway Park after his death in 1979.
