The Santa Fe Train Depot is one of the oldest structures in downtown Hemet. The passenger section was built in 1914. The freight room of a previous depot, constructed in 1898, was moved and incporated into the current depot.

In the late 1940s, volunteer firemen began earning money to purchase the land for a new station in Los Alamitos and the County of Orange built the firehouse. The adobe building was opened in March of 1948 and retired in 1973.

Partners Frank Alexander & James Oviatt hired Los Angeles architectural firm of Walker & Eisen to build a 12-story headquarters for their sales shop (now the Cicada Club), rentable office space and a 10-room penthouse suite for Oviatt.

Cypress College, a public community college in Cypress, opened in 1966. Across the 110 acre campus, nearly every single building bears the same heavily textured, vertical, boardformed striation associated with the Brutalist style.

The original building of The Central Library in Los Angeles, the Goodhue Building, opened in 1926. The Los Angeles Conservancy grew out of efforts to preserve it when overcrowding and deterioration threatened its demolition.

Eliot Lane is a diminutive Long Beach historic district comprised of a single block of small homes built by the Long Beach firm of Boland and Smith in 1923. The street provides a snapshot of Long Beach in the twenties.

The Cypress Street Schoolhouse “for Mexican children” was built in Orange in 1931 with materials salvaged from the demolished Lemon Street School. The 1-story structure, designed in the Spanish Colonial Revival style, had 5 classrooms.
