The Long Beach Playhouse was established in 1929. It moved numerous times before buying a lot for $11,000 on Anaheim Street in 1948. When the theater on Anaheim opened in 1951, the first production charged $6 for admission.

The McConville house and barn were built around 1882 on an important piece of property in Temecula – in close proximity to the new Temecula Train Depot and a short distance from Main Street where Hugh McConville operated a livery stable.

This imposing Queen Anne Victorian mansion, the Britt-Scripps House in San Diego, was built for attorney and judge Eugene Britt and his wife, Harriet, in 1887. Only a few years later it was purchased by Edward W. Scripps, as a 2nd home.

The Tevis Block was the Bakersfield home of the Kern County Land Company from 1894 until the property was sold in 1959. Its construction was a sign of optimism about the future of the city and its role in the development of the region.

Charles Lummis built his house, El Alisal, between 1897 & 1910 on a 3-acre lot at the south end of the Arroyo Seco in northeast Los Angeles. The Rustic American Craftsman stone house was built by hand by Lummls and a few Indian laborers.

The Long Beach Main Post Office opened in September 1934. Its architectural style has been described as “Post-Quake Moderne” because the Moderne style of Art Deco architecture was prevalent as Long Beach was rebuilt after the 1933 quake.

Hidden under the 32-acre Los Angeles State Historic Park are indelible remnants of the commercial power of this former rail yard and historical significance of the site of the Southern Pacific Transportation Company’s River Station.
