In Sept 1980, Wrather Port Properties signed a lease to manage the Queen Mary, berthed in Long Beach harbor. In 1981, Howard Hughes’s Spruce Goose was saved from demolition in the Wrather-funded geodesic dome next to the Queen Mary.

The Santa Anita Train Depot in what is now Arcadia was built, courtesy E.J. “Lucky” Baldwin, by the Atchison, Topeka and Santa Fe Railway in 1890. It was moved about 1/4 mile onto the LA County Arboretum grounds and restored in 1970.

Ford Motor Company constructed the largest and most popular exhibition for the California Pacific International Exposition in San Diego in 1935. In May 1979, the San Diego Aerospace Museum moved in after a fire destroyed its former home.

The plans for the El Mirador Hotel in Palm Springs included a 68-foot-tall Spanish Revival-style bell tower. When the tower and one remaining building burned in 1989, the owner, Desert Hospital, used those plans to rebuild them.

The Spanish Colonial Revival-style Calexico Carnegie Library opened in 1919 and served as the city’s library until 1986, when a new library building opened. The building was used as a storage facility until it was restored in 2007.

The BAPS Shri Swaminarayan Mandir is a 20-acre Hindu temple complex located in Chino Hills. The complex, completed in 2012, is the fifth traditional Hindu Mandir in North America and the first earthquake-proof Mandir in the world.
