In 1962, Orange Coast College District bought 122 acres in Huntington Beach from Wilford Lewis, owner of Golden West Farms, for a new community college campus. Architect William L. Pereira was hired to design the new Golden West College.

The Queen Mary has been a fixture in Long Beach since 1967. It was shuttered amid the pandemic in March 2020. Starting on December 15, 2022, the city offered limited numbers of one hour guided tours of the 1st class passenger areas.

The Long-Waterman House in San Diego is one of the grandest of the great Bankers’ Hill mansions built during the boom period of the 1880s. It was constructed in 1889 by John Long, designed in the California Queen Anne style.

Carroll Park is one of the oldest Long Beach Historic Districts with homes built between 1898 and 1928. The Rose Park neighborhoods were first established in 1905. While many architectural styles are found, Craftsman is predominant.

The first drugstore in Westminster was built in 1874, fours years after Reverand Lemuel P. Webber founded a colony there. It was built by physician Dr. James McCoy and later owned by teacher and principal Marie Larter Hare.

Ulysses S. Grant Jr. (son of President Grant), oversaw the building of the U.S. Grant Hotel, named after his father, in San Diego. Opening in October, 1910, it quickly became _the_ scene for social and political activities.
