Old Placentia City Hall

The City of Placentia proudly celebrated the ribbon-cutting ceremony for the revitalized Old Placentia City Hall on February 22nd, 2024. Built in 1940 by the Works Progress Administration, it was designed in the popular-in-the-period Spanish Colonial Revival style. The building housed the City’s Administrative Offices, a fire station, a police station and the city jail until a new Civic Center campus opened in 1974. Extensive interior renovations and expansion provided new homes for the Fire and Life Safety Department and the Placentia Chamber of Commerce as well as a Visitor’s Center. Using original construction drawings, the City replicated wrought iron gates and other decorative features installed in 1940 and redesigned the courtyard with a new fountain as the central feature.
